In class we experimented with traditional media, using paint, ink and materials to make some abstract artworks. It was refreshing to be using traditional media but it quickly revealed my lack of skills in painting and inability to be creative on the spot. I had a go at making something but I had no idea what I was doing so I abandoned it and started on a new one which I was much happier with. I used some inks and the instrument used to draw the ink up to scratch out paths to form something that looks almost like branches on a tree.
As part of our project we have to produce 5 of these so at home I produced 3 more, only using acrylic paints as I have no other art materials available. I painted some abstract marks, shapes and patterns. I am not sure how my project will benefit from these by they got me thinking about shapes and colour.
